From the Pastor's Heart

Church Family,
Today is Maundy Thursday. If you've ever wondered, "Maundy" is derived from the Latin term "mandatum," which means "commandment." The reason it's called "Commandment Thursday" is because Thursday would have been when Jesus had his final supper with the disciples, and He gave the commandment for us to observe the Lord's Supper. So in honor of this day, I invite you to go and read Matthew 26, where we see the Supper, the Gethsemane prayer, and the betrayal and arrest all take place. Jesus gave His disciples the symbolism of the Lord's Supper to commemorate His death, but also to fuel their faith going forward. Tomorrow we observe Good Friday, when the King of Glory was declared King of the Jews and nailed to a cross. Maybe spend some time today listening to this song and dwelling on these lyrics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-QFx5RRqFM
As for announcements, the Children's Ministry Training is this Saturday at 8am. I'm hopeful that we can be done by 10:30am, and I hope you are able to make it. We will have breakfast for those in attendance, and I think it should be a beneficial time for us to learn together and be prepared to serve our children better. Thank you for all of you that signed up to be a part of it.
Second, Easter is Sunday! That means we will have our Sunrise service at 7am and breakfast in the FLC after. Then our regular worship service will be at 9am instead of 11am. Please don't forget that time change, as I would hate for you to miss church on Easter Sunday because you showed up at 11am. With that, we will not have Sunday School or Sunday evening service on Easter.
Finally, we have done a lot of eating this month, but we have a little bit more to do! On April 27th, we will have lunch after morning service in honor of Mason and Sarah Watts' last Sunday with us. They will be moving up to Rock Hill and beginning their new work in May, and we are so happy and excited for them. That being said, we also love them and will miss them, and I'm hoping you'll be able to come to lunch and let them know how much we care.
With that, I'll see you Sunday to celebrate the Risen Savior! But don't forget, He is Risen today as well. So worship Him, even now!
